Happy Friday Everyone!
Instead of a flashback we are doing a flash forward trip thought. There are so many places that I want to go and see. I’m not that type of girl who wants designer handbags and piles of jewelry. I want adventure and experiences.
One of my dream trips is to see all of Europe. Each country is so unique with its own culture and language. I think I will definitely have to go more than once to do everything that I want to do. I want to experience the fjords of Scandinavia, Big Ben, the Eiffel tower, the beautiful city of Prague, the Spanish Riviera and the list goes on. With Europe being as diverse as it is, I believe it is something that I’m going to have to devote 2 weeks to each time that I travel.
There are so many tricky things that you need to think about when traveling abroad. What are the visa requirements for the country that you are visiting? What is the currency? What is the easiest way to get around in country and between countries?
I’m currently looking into a small airline called WOWair. It is an Icelandic company that has extremely cheap fares to Europe from major cities like NYC, Boston, Miami and DC for example. The catch is that they are similar to an airline like Spirit and Allegiant. This is not going to be the deluxe sleeping compartments offered by airlines like JetBlue and Delta. They charge extra for checked bags and do not have any extras. However when you are looking at fares out of NYC for $250-350 to Iceland and Paris, I think I could deal with being uncomfortable as long as I could get there. The juice would seem to be worth the squeeze!
Fancy hotels and first class plane tickets are not at the top of my priority list when going to most places. I’m also typically not one to buy souvenirs unless it is truly something unique. I treasurer my photos and videos as my takeaways. I usually get Olivia a snow globe wherever I go. Those seem to be her favorites! She isn’t too hard to please. I just want to get there and experience my destination from more of a local point of view. Yes I will be taking cheesy photos like the typical tourist I am but I want to experience a city in its raw, natural glory as well.
Have any of you been to Europe? If so, what are your suggestions and tips? I would love to hear from you!
