I am so excited to be writing up this post because I loved this hotel so much! This place is a true show stopper in the heart of the Big Easy. You have a lot of choices when it comes to staying in New Orleans. I’m going to tell you why it should be the Cambria and why you won’t regret it.
Here is a little background on this hotel. Cambria is a line of hotels by Choice Hotels International. However, this is not your standard cookie cutter brand. The Cambria line is specialized as a boutique line which means no two are the same. If you are interested in a boutique style hotel but like having the comfort of a national brand, I highly recommend taking a look at this line. Each of the major hotel brands are coming out with lines similar to this.
New Orleans like any major city is broken up into neighborhoods. The Warehouse District is a bit more up and coming. There is a lot of new construction and restoration going on in this area. What I liked about this neighborhood is that is was a bit more modern and less touristy. The location is perfect. It is just down the street from Harrah’s, is a quick ride to the cruise port and the French Quarter which are both within a mile or so. The plus to being away from areas like Bourbon Street is that you don’t get the noise or trash from all the late night partying.
I loved the design of this hotel. It kept an industrial look with adding beautiful damask prints/textures to add a classic touch to the property. Pulling up to this beautiful, you are greeted by the smiling bell/valet staff and walked right into the front desk area for check in. If you are a Choice Privileges Member, you will have the option to take bonus points at check in our receive a New Orleans style souvenir coaster that entitles you to a buy one get one free drink promotion at the bar.
My room had a beautiful city view and a lot of space for a big city hotel room. The room had a mini fridge, budoir, desk and a tub/shower combo bathroom. The beds were extremely comfortable and the decor of the room was spectacular. This was one of the best sleeps that I have had in a hotel in a while.
Four things to keep in mind when making reservations:
1. Booking online directly through the hotel brand’s website (Choice) is going to give you the best rate.
2. Becoming a rewards member. It doesn’t cost anything and most chains have membership special rates.
3. Pay attention to Cancellation Dates. Set a reminder in your phone or write it on your calendar. During special events like spring break, some hotels can have a 1 week cancellation policy. The industry standard is usually 24 hours or 4pm day of arrival.
4. Use the website or call about additional fees. Not all hotels include breakfast, WiFi and parking. Some hotels event have resort fees that include usage of extra facilities.
I hope the next time that you are in New Orleans that you give this hotel a try. This is well worth the price and has a fabulous location. The service is exceptional and you will not regret it!
