Happy Wednesday Everyone!
There has been so much going on lately that I feel like I’m in a cyclone going round and round. This week marks the last week at my current job. I will be moving on to a regional home based position. I’m very excited for the challenges that this new job will bring. To finish off my cyclone of a week, let’s go back to where it started!
Friday marked the departure from Rochester to a fun filled weekend in Toronto for my best friend’s bachelorette weekend. As most of you know, I’ve been to Toronto many times and it is one of my favorite cities in the whole world so far. I love being a trip planner and wanted to create something very special for everyone. In classic tourist form, we stopped at Hornblower Tours (Maid of the Mist on the USA side) on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. I have done this attraction many times and for $20 USD you cannot beat it. Being able to get up close and personal with one of the most amazing natural world wonders will leave you speechless. There are also many wineries on the way to Toronto that you can stop at along the way. We stopped at Meglomaniac and it was gorgeous!
There are always many things going on in Toronto between festivals, shows, sports and everything in between. We checked in to the Hilton Toronto for a two night stay. The hotel staff was great and upgraded one of our rooms so we could have connecting rooms for the weekend. Once we arrived to our room on the 22nd floor, we were stunned by our view of the city and CN tower right from our own hotel windows (odd numbers face the tower). We got dressed and headed out to O’Grady’s Bar & Grill (amazing outdoor seating and great staff) for some dinner and cocktails before heading over to Crews and Tangos for a night full of drag show fun. The performers at Crews and Tangos were absolutely stunning. We literally sat there for hours watching and sang along to some classic favorites!
Saturday morning brought one of the most amazing experiences that I have ever had in my life. We headed over to Body Blitz Spa (West Location) for a session of therapeutic waters. None of us have ever done anything like this but thought we’d give it a try. The staff was great while I was doing a group booking prior and were just as pleasant when we arrived as well as during our stay. We ordered juices and shakes that would be brought to the waters for us (Vitamin D Shake was amazing). The facility has a locker room with towels and robes. There were showers and vanity area equipped with everything from hair dryers to stylers to get you ready for the day after your treatments. The waters consisted of a deep sea salt pool, a cold plunge, hot tub, sauna and eucalyptus steam room. You completed them in a cycle that they give you with suggested times in each section. We all agreed that we have never felt so relaxed in our entire lives. My body was in a permanent state of contentment. I would highly suggest this business to anyone looking for some great relaxation. They have two locations as well as a two Blitz Facial Bars that would be great for bridal and bachelorette parties too! I am seriously completely sold and plan on going back in October when I’m back in Toronto.
After the amazing morning at the spa we headed over to Kensington Market for some brick oven pizza from Pizzeria Via Mercanti. I could seriously sit here and eat pizza all day. It was so light and fresh. Kensington Market is one of my favorite neighborhoods. I will link to my previous article so you can see what I mean. It is very artsy and full of unique shops, bars, eateries and performers. After walking around we headed back to the hotel pool area to play some card son the rooftop pool patio with some cocktails. We decided to get Japanese at Fume with was about .25 miles from the hotel (yes I feel guilty using miles instead of kilometers).
For a bachelorette surprise, we went to Cake Bar for a night of dancing and drinks. We were able to get a booth with two bottles of vodka, three mixers and some bachelorette decorations for $250 CAD ($186 USD). Greg was great at handling our group requests and all the staff were extremely friendly. The DJ kept us dancing with Top 40 and party anthems. This was only about 0.3 miles from the hotel as well so it made for an easy walk back (for most of us).
We had an absolute wonderful time and decided we should probably be doing a girls trip yearly anyways. As you can see we had a wide variety of activities in all shapes and sizes. There isn’t a single thing that we wouldn’t do again (we are all still talking about that spa)! I will leave the links below and I hope you decide to give these places a try! You won’t be disappointed.
