Nothing is worse than coming back to your stateroom on one of the last nights of your cruise to those luggage tags on your neatly made bed. I have found that there is only one cure to the post cruise blues, stay another night in port! Some people prefer to get right home, I prefer to have a day to prep on land for the trip home.
Olivia and I stayed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort after our Allure of the Seas sailing in August. I fell in love with this hotel. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. The views were amazing. I’m going to do a quick list of what I liked right here:
- Welcome amenity for kids (includes a small shovel, bucket and coupon for milk and cookies).
- Exceptional staff-They were able to accommodate me for an early check in and ended up upgrading me to a corner suite!
- Beach access was amazing ($20 gets you an umbrella and lounger service if you want.)
- Great pool deck with a restaurant and cabana beds
I was told that if you are staying in the Ft. Lauderdale area that you should take a trip to Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor. This place had a huge line out the door. It is basic fried style food but it is the home of the original kitchen sink ice cream sundae. You really come here for the ice cream.
After ice cream, Olivia and I headed back to walk and sit on the beach one last time. The beach and the sound of the ocean just sooth me. I opted for a light walk as Olivia ran up and down the strip in the waves. This was probably one of the happiest moments of the girls trip and was a great way for it to come to an end.
