Happy Monday Everyone!
Monday begins with M. I figured it would be a good day to tackle the Memorial Art Gallery as well. This video has been live on my Youtube Channel for just over a week now so I figured it is about time that I do the write up on it.
The Memorial Art Gallery is located just across from the Neighborhood of the Arts in Downtown Rochester, New York. The museum contains over 4,500 years’ worth of art ranging from medieval to mummies! The nickname for this museum is the MAG. The MAG has accumulated over 12,000 pieces of art since its opening in 1913. It features three Monet portraits as well as a Rembrandt as well.
It was a beautiful springy winter day when I ventured down to the MAG with my family. I wasn’t too sure how my daughter would take to an art museum or if it would even appeal to her since she’s only 5. The featured collection was the Ebony Fashion Exhibit which will be going on for about another month. This exhibit features 50 years’ worth of fashion from names like Christian Dior and Valentino.
There are some great interactive areas including the Renaissance and Mummy room that appealed to my daughter. There were interactive screens with headphones in both of these exhibits. My favorite room is the ancient Greek and Roman art upstairs by the Baroque Organ.
The video that I constructed has some great sneak peaks but definitely does not do the museum justice. I definitely advise you visit for yourself. There are different exhibitions going on constantly.
